When any two piercings on the ear are joined by a barbell, it is known as an industrial piercing. Mostly the upper and lower ear cartilage is pierced and then a barbell is put through it.
  • Tragus Piercing: Tragus piercing is done through the lower cartilage of the ear, the one that is at the entrance of the ear canal, on the outer part of the ear. Tragus piercing generally takes 8 weeks to heal, but depending on the thickness of the cartilage, it can vary. The maximum time it takes is 16 weeks.
  • Anti-Tragus Piercing: This is one of the most different ear piercing types for guys. Anti-tragus is very close to the tragus, to be specific, it is done through the cartilage opposite the tragus piercing. This cartilage is located on the inner side of the ear, the little bone that you can feel just above your ear lobe, is where the anti tragus piercing is done. Anti-tragus takes the same amount of time to heal as that of a tragus piercing.
  • Orbital Piercing: Orbital piercing can be done anywhere on the ear, but it is very popular on the ear lobe. When any two piercings that start and end at the same part of the ear, they are called as orbital piercings. Orbital piercings generally take 3-6 weeks to heal.
  • Snug Piercing: Snug piercing is located inside the ear. This body piercing is done on the cartilage that is just above the anti-tragus piercing. The space available here is very little so do not use heavy jewelry.
  • Helix Piercing: This is one of the most popular ear piercings. Helix piercing, also known as pinna piercing is done on the outermost cartilage rim, the topmost part of the ear. This cartilage piercing too takes about 8 weeks to heal.
  • Lobe Piercing: Lobe piercing is the most common type of ear piercing. I am sure you know what ear lobe means, but if you don't, let me tell you that the ear lobe is small soft tissue that hangs at the bottom of the ear. This ear piercing type takes about 6 weeks to heal, in rare cases, it can take up to 10 weeks.
  • Conch Piercing: Conch piercings can be done inside as well as outside the ear. The inner conch piercing is located towards the center of the ear cartilage whereas the outer conch is located on the outer ear, just behind the inner conch. 8-10 weeks is required for this piercing to heal.
  • Rook Piercing: The rook piercing is done inside the ear on the smallest cartilage, located just below the helix. This piercing takes almost a year to heal and it has a tendency to migrate.
